the dream i had this morning...i was on a tour, of what i dont know, alton brown was driving our tram. his wife was telling us about growing up with uranium in new mexico. there was a small crash where all the cars in the tram smacked into each other...but as usual AB really kept his cool and called, not a paramedic, but a pediatrician. weird...i really just want to know how the words "uranium" and "pediatrician" got into my dream. i already checked the morning stories on npr to see if they infiltrated my head. there was no mention of either of those things. funny what you can come up with while you sleep

ted, our resident fix-it guy, promptly arrived this morning at 8 am and is now busy cutting a giant whole in our ceiling above the vanity. he had the upstairs neighbor turn on their water for a bit and it just came pouring out. i think we may have an interesting day here:)

Back by popular demand....

now that things have settled down around here and things are pretty much back to normal(?) i thought i would try to start writing regularly again. i just reread some of my early posts and was somewhat impressed with my writings! in the days since the wedding i have been picking up some of my old favorite activites like reading self help books, researching things like unicorns and lemons, and making messes. some of the newer activities i have picked up include expanding my cooking knowledge, "keeping house", and filling out financial goal setting worksheets! it all feels so grown up! i am really looking forward to the summer getting here and sticking around for awhile...i got a new bike with a basket for hitting the local farmers market and library and also for riding to the beach! plus the city is so fun in the summer, there is always something going on!.

christmas has come and gone again...it always happens so quickly. mjk and i did lots of traveling and got to see all of our family. we both got totally spoiled with great presents and lots of good food. i have one last present to give out to bws....her family has been dealing with some difficult times and i am excited to see her today because she has been gone for over a week! for new years eve i have made reservations at the melting pot for mjk and i and two other couples so that is also something to look forward to.

mjk and i are tying the knot in just under 3 months! so i now, as emeril would say, have to kick it up a notch and really get things going! my dress has just arrived at the store so i need to make some fitting appointments and also purchase some underthings and some shoes. its all very exciting!

i can honestly say that "i'm just not that into you anymore" little blog. its not you its me....i just cant seem to find the time. you don't fit in my life these days. our relationship is on the edge, i think we should just take a little break from each other...just a couple of weeks to mull it over and really miss each other.

i have ignored you long enough my trusty blog! the holidays and traveling and fussy internet connections have kept me away for too long! oh, where to start.....

mjk and i spent some quality time in detroit visiting, eating and drinking with both friends and family. we left on wednesday afternoon for what we thought would be a 4-5 hour journey...but with snow and holiday traffic, it turned into 7! we were both grouchy and stiff upon our arrival. but mom and bill had some snacks and a stiff drink waiting for us! thanksgiving was held at mjk's aunts house and we had a wonderful time. i truly enjoy being around lots of family at the holidays. it was really fun to have small children, small dogs and small cramped tables to sit at. all the food and the noise from conversations, kids and the lions game was very festive! afterwards we all sat around and watched the movie polar express. on friday we visited with dad, ate left overs, took naps and then headed out to visit with more friends at a local pool hall. it was fun to see mjk interact with his close friends...he is much more animated. i got to show off my ring and talk about our wedding plans and how we got engaged....and the wives planned a bachelorette weekend in chicago which i am looking forward to.


today we are heading over to my parents house for a mini thanksgiving. i am so looking forward to having some pork pie. i have decided that i need to learn how to make it so that i can bring it to thanksgiving in detroit...these people do not know what they are missing! so i will have to get the recipe and practice with my mom at christmas!

mjk and i put out all of our christmas decorations last night...there are not very many, but our living room looks very festive. we hit up the dollar store and bought lots of christmas chotchkie. now all we need is the tree!
