what my tealeaves said today...

Fire feeding on fire.
Once in awhile you meet someone who inspires you, who pushes you to greater heights, who helps you to accomplish things you may never have been able to accomplish alone.
Nourish the spark.
Cherish the partnership.
Fan the flame.

a question for pondering

What did you do as a child that made the hours pass like minutes? Herein lies the key to your earthly pursuits.

surfing

i've spent the morning surfing the internet looking for inspiration...for things to keep my creative juices flowing. the problem is i am looking for someone or something to tell me exactly what to do...like write this novel or use this photographic theme...which is not really being creative at all. i did however, stumble upon some interesting sites that i had not visited before including frenchtoastgirl and oneword, which i found to be stimulating. i really enjoyed frenchtoastgirls "snippets" which were pieces of ideas and dreams that had the potential for elaboration but were not ripe yet. i also like her list of things she'd like to accomplish....mostly just cuz i like lists and to peek at other peoples lists to see if i am missing anything!! i have been blessed with a couple of months free from work and rent payments and i would really like to do something with my time...something significant...something that requires the use of this time. of course when i was working full time with rarely a moment to think i actually had quite a few ideas...i should look through my journals for past inspirations and ideas! so i am off to the library to return some books and maybe pick up julia camerons the artists way...its at the main boston public library and i havent been there yet....it supposed to be beautiful...and it is overcast today with the threat of rain...the perfect indoor activity.

a list of ordinary things

inspired by an entry on keri smiths blog the wish jar journal

"Learn to write about the ordinary. Give homage to old coffee cups, sparrows, city buses, thin ham sandwiches. Make a list of everything ordinary you can think of. Keep adding to it. Promise yourself, before you leave the earth, to mention everything on your list at least once in a poem, short story, newspaper article." ~Nathalie Goldberg

my favorite ordinary things....
tea cups
lilies
socks
smiles
pens
soft heavy quilts
my feet
cardigans
the sun
earrings
watermelon
making dinner
pillows
flip flops
lilacs
pomegranetes
hugs
water
maps
calendars

back to normal

i just returned from austin texas were my best friend beth just got married...i went down with her a couple of days early to help tie up some last minute details...and boy were we busy girls. there is so much stuff to do for a wedding its mindboggling! it all paid off however, it was a beautiful and simple ceremony out on a golf course on a hot and sunny evening and the party afterwards was wonderful as well...lots of good people, good food and good times!

this is my first foray into web blogs and i am pretty excited about the whole thing...how amazing is it that someone who lives on the other side of the world in some place i know nothing about might bump into my virtual musings! Just in case.....Hello and welcome!
