mjk and i have made tremendous progress this past week! we finally decided on where we are going to get married...a beautiful intimate church in chicagos gold coast? neighborhood. i love it! it has stained glass everywhere. we also spent the weekend designing and printing up our save the date cards. i think mjk is more creative than me...how could that be:) . so we are feeling pretty good about our planning. the piece de resistance is the fact that i actually decided on a dress yesterday!!! couldnt have been done without the patience and love of my bff bws and my mom...so i thank you both. it is a feat that i made this decision with a relatively small amount of hemming and hawing...i am usually the slowest decision maker ever, but it all worked out!

2. wedding dresses (obviously)
3. checking my email

busy bee

i am just too preoccuppied by this wedding business...it seems as though i dont remember or remind myself to do anything else. there are so many other things going on in my life and the world that i seem to be forgetting...my best friend is having some life "growing pains" and i have not been there for her enough....the south is still reeling from the effects of katrina and i have done nothing to help. i guess what i am trying to tell myself is to try not to be so one track minded. i need to make time for all of the parts of my life. with that said....the wedding stuff is still chugging along. mjk and i have still not made any huge decisions which does stress me out a bit. i do feel like something will be happening soon though! tonight i am going to try on another round of dresses as the first round was not very successful. wish me luck!

in other news....the renegade craft fair is this weekend in wicker park....ohohoh..so exciting...grab your dogs, your babies and your best crafty buddy and head on over! they have super fun stuff!

fireman tom is headed off to help in new orleans so i just want to wish him a safe journey....good luck!

we are all packed up and ready for our detroit trip, we are leaving tonite after work. it will be the first time that we have seen mjk's family since our engagement. I think i will get my ring polished up for the event! i have launched back into wedding planning mode and have been busy calling churches ( something i never thought i would do!), making appointments and scanning the wedding magazines for ideas. I even went to my first wedding store but was completely overwhelmed by the amount of "stuff" that they had that i didnt know i needed and am still wondering why people would buy. Over the top ring bearing pillows, ornately plumed guest book pens w/ stand, official bridal shower card games....the list goes on!. They did have some really interesting stuff i guess it was just a bad first stop for me. Anyway, i finally started to transfer all of our favorite songs from cd to our computer so that i can start making playlist for the reception. That was fun. Also, i got to meet up with bws for lunch (the first since my return) and she brought along here own wedding album!

quick update

I am sitting here this morning "borrowing" someones wireless internet connection in my building so that I can update my blog and catch up on all of my internet news! mjk and i have finally started to settle into our new home, which we are just loving. There is so much more space for us than our last apartment that we are having trouble filling it up! I have a few projects lined up and would really like to focus on finding some textiles for our windows and floors to muffle the everyday noises, like creaky floors and noisy neighbors. we have been spending lots of time on our patio, we love to watch the action on our street, and found out that our oven refuses to get hot:( but we are really excited to be back!

I have not had enough time to visit with friends or spend sufficient giggly time with bws or get to a yoga class or have a barbeque with my parents but i hope that i can soon get to some of these things. Summer is almost gone and i would like to savour every last drop of it.

It is time to get ready for work so i must sign off, but i hope to have our internet up and running soon so i can post more!
